Name: Seán McEntee
Title: PhD Student
Email: mcentees@cp.dias.ie
Address: School of Cosmic Physics, DIAS Dunsink Observatory, Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies, Dublin 15, Ireland.
Biographical Sketch:
Seán obtained a BA in Physics & Astrophysics from Trinity College Dublin in 2020. He subsequently joined DIAS in September 2020 as a PhD student, working with Catriona Jackman as part of the new Planetary Magnetospheres group. Seán’s research themes focus on the investigation of Jupiter’s X-ray emissions, with the aim of better understanding the drivers producing this emission in both the auroral and disk regions. One particular point of interest that Seán hopes to explore is the link between solar activity and Jupiter’s X-ray disk emission. This research will involve a multi-instrument approach, with data from the Chandra X-ray Observatory, NASA’s JUNO at Jupiter, and XMM-Newton contributing to the analysis.
