The Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies (DIAS) is an academic research institution with research across Astronomy & Astrophysics, Celtic Studies, Geophysics, and Theoretical Physics. DIAS invites applications for a 2-year Administrator position based in the Astronomy & Astrophysics Section at DIAS Dunsink Observatory.
The Astronomy & Astrophysics Section is a vibrant and inclusive community of more than 30 researchers working on planetary science, solar physics, space weather, star formation, and high-energy astrophysics. Working alongside the academic, technical, and education staff, the Administrative Assistant will provide administrative support to the Section, assisting staff and students with the day-to-day running of their research and engagement activities. Previous administrative experience is essential, with experience in an academic research environment desirable.
Duties include:
Support planning and running of events (e.g., seminars, conferences, public events)
Meet and greet visitors and contractors
Day-to-day administrative support (e.g., recruitment and finance) for staff and students in the Section
Administrative support of externally-funded research and education projects
Regularly engage with the Institute’s central administration
The successful candidate will be based at DIAS Dunsink Observatory in Dublin 15, and will also be expected to work at DIAS offices in central Dublin.
This is a full-time 2-year appointment with salary in line with the DIAS Clerical scale. The current (PPC) salary scale for new entrants ranges from €29,293 to €46,447. The starting salary for this position will be in line with public sector rules. The appointee will be subject to the general Irish public sector regulations as regards annual leave, sick leave, and pension entitlements. Further details on the position are available here.
