The 2011 Statutory Public Lecture of the School of Theoretical Physics will take place in Trinity College Dublin on Saturday 19th November 2011 at 6:30 p.m. The lecture entitled “Geometric Physics” will be given by Professor Cumrun Vafa, Donner Professor of Science, Department of Physics, Harvard University.
It will be held in the J.M. Synge Lecture Theatre, (Room 2039 – formerly named Walton Theatre), Arts Building, TCD.
Admission is free.
The interplay between geometry and physics has been a rich source of inspiration for both fields over many centuries. This interaction has reached new heights in recent times in the context of string theory. The talk reviews some of these developments.
