Poet and Physicist Iggy McGovern will present a selection of poems from his most recent book: Making Waves, a sonnet sequence based on the life of Erwin Schrödinger. Joining Professor McGovern will be Dr. Ian Jubb, of DIAS, to discuss the origins and context of the sonnet sequence which is split into five parts corresponding largely to specific important locations in which Schrödinger lived during his lifetime. Erwin Schrödinger came to Ireland in 1939, at the invitation of Éamon de Valera, and was appointed as the first Director of the School of Theoretical Physics here at DIAS.
